Keeping New Year Resolutions

January 13, 2015 by L. E. Mastilock 7 Comments

It’s a new year!

Keeping New Year Resolutions #family #parenting #homeschooling

This is Monkey on the first day of the year. Can you tell he made it to midnight New Year’s Eve? Not surprising, he’s made it for the last few years, as has Boo. My kids are night owls like me. If there’s anything to stay up for, there’s no relaxing or falling asleep easily.

Do you make resolutions for the start of a year?

I do make goals for myself, but normally I avoid them around new years time. Something about them being “New Years Resolutions” makes them more likely to be broken, or maybe that’s my superstition.

Have you followed through on all of yours so far?

I did make some goals before the end of 2014, but then things went haywire, which is why it took me so long to get this post up. It’s already mid January! I’m just now getting started on said goals.

My Goals

Perhaps if I post them for all to see it will help me make them a reality.

  • Blog makeover
  • Comment & reply regularly. I do love your comments! I need to make sure you know it!!
  • Create an editorial calendar (and stick to it)
  • Write more for my own enjoyment (maybe write a book)
  • Draw & paint more, and promote my art
  • Cook more healthy meals
  • Make time for my kids’ learning
  • Clear out clutter

How are these goals coming?

As I said, things went haywire at the end of last year. There was sickness and even a death in my family. Change of profession (you could say), causing a big shift in family dynamics. Monkey had horrible stomach pains and we had to make a huge lifestyle change to see if it would help him. Just at the start of the new year everyone got a horrible head cold, then I got it and am only just beginning to have any energy back.

So, no, I’m not off to a fantastic start. It’s been slow going, to say the least! I’ll be expanding on happenings here next time.

I will say that I have a story getting published in mere weeks! I’m extremely excited!  More info very soon.
I have been drawing and have focused my art on animal and pet portraits How to order yours- coming soon.
I have been clearing clutter and cooking very healthy meals, not much choice there. I’ll explain later.
Happy to have accomplished those things!

Sorry to be so vague. Explanations to come.

Hope your year is off to a great start!

Please, tell me what is one of your biggest goals for this year?

I like your list of goals. I'm not doing too well with mine so far this year, but there's still time!

Great for you! I did it! The hardest part is the first few weeks. Think of it this way, if you break down and have one, you're starting all the torture all over again. Breathe for a couple minutes, distract yourself and let the craving pass. Best of luck!

Hey that's great you have all those resolutions down. No worries about not being off to a great start. As long as you get around to it at the right time, you'll get your results! And I hope you're all feeling better now too!

Finally ready to start the new year! And it's almost Febuary. You're right, though. As long as I do work on them, the date doesn't matter. Thanks!
