Big Brothers Big Sisters Big Impact #MondayMatters

Welcome to Monday Matters! Spread awareness to help important causes and start your week off right by making a difference each Monday, even if that is just to pin, tweet, or share to pass this information on. Join the Monday Matters blog hop at the end of this post!

You’ve probably heard of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. It is the oldest and largest youth mentoring organization in the United States. They serve over 220,000 six- to 18-year-old kids.

How does Big Brothers Big Sisters of America impact lives?

BBBSA mentors work one-on-one with children, helping them improve their study habits, develop confidence, and learn to relate to adults. The relationship they develop has a direct and measurable impact on the child’s life.
Kids in the BBBSA program are:
  • less likely to use drugs, use illegal alcohol, and skip school
  • do better in their schoolwork
  • get along better with their families.
  • are more confident

Ever considered becoming a big brother or sister?

Volunteer just a couple hours a month. Do things you already like to do; go to movies, sport events, just hang out. The activities are not what is important, the kids say it’s spending time with an adult who cares. Time with a positive role model can be a life changer.

There are over 21,000 boys ready and waiting to be matched with Big Brothers across the country right now, that’s double the number of girls waiting for a Big Sister. Don’t wait, get involved now.

This is such an amazing organization. It offers so much hope for those kiddos that are lacking. Love it.
