Crazy Bus {Blog a Day in May Challenge- Day 18}

May 18, 2013 by L. E. Mastilock 2 Comments

Sandy Toes Creations- Crazy Bus

Today is Day 18 of the Blog Every Day in May Challenge.

It’s been hard to keep up and still live my busy life, but somehow I’m managing. Can’t keep this up for much longer, though! My house needs some serious cleaning.

Favorite Childhood Memory.

One thing that always makes me smile when I think about it is my dad’s V.W. Bus. It was white (at one time anyway), looked a bit shabby, but we loved it! It had no backseats. If you know anything about Volkswagen’s, you know the motor is in the back. So, there was a “shelf” beginning under the back window where it was flat and then it sharply sloped down to the floor. It was all carpeted.

My brother and I would climb up the back and lay on our bellies to look out the window and Dad would yell, “get down! A Cop might see you and then I’ll get a ticket!” You know, those pesky seat belt laws that were beginning to be enforced.

So, we would slide down and then curl up into little balls, lie on our backs, and let the motion of the bus roll us around. We loved when Dad made a big turn! The bus would rock and we would laugh as we bumped into each other and the sides of the bus. He would call over his shoulder, “Would you stop that?!”

We would stop for a moment or two, then couldn’t resist curling up again. Shushing each other as we tried to hold in the giggles. After all, we weren’t moving, the bus was making us move! “I thought I told you to cut that out?!!” we’d hear my Dad call yell again after the next big turn.

Good times.

What’s a fun childhood moment of yours?
