One Person Can Make a Difference #1000Speak

Today,  February 20th, 2015, is a day to Speak for Compassion

Follow hashtag #1000Speak as hundreds of bloggers from all over the world have pledged to share a post on compassion. You can check out the blog and Facebook page for full details.

How do you show compassion?

Simply by caring for someone in need.

One Person Can Make a Difference #1000Speak #compassion #causes

That could be adopting an animal that needs a home. My cat, for instance, was rescued from a shelter and he is concerned that all cats may not be getting an ideal amount on sleep on this day of compassion. You can read his thoughts here.

I believe the most pressing issue that compassion can solve is slavery.

Human Trafficking is an issue that weighs heavily on my heart. I have always advocated most strongly against it over any other cause.

If everyone were compassionate; loving, kind, caring, empathetic, to one another, there would be no slavery, no human trafficking. No poverty or hunger either for that matter.  Which made me think, of course, of the song ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon. Enjoy listening while you read.

How can one person make any difference, though, even if we feel a little extra compassionate today?

  • Share about causes that are important to you
  • Stay informed
  • Donate to those that you can, if not money, than your time
  • Be intentionally kinder and slower to judge others
  • Seek out ways to get involved
  • Gather people together around a common cause and brainstorm steps to take action

Have you seen my Get Involved Page?

Just a few extremely simple, inexpensive ways to help some very important causes.

"What are you doing for others?" indeed! One of my favorite quotes. (And a great way to get others who get a little too complainy to stop and think for a second.) 😀
