We recently returned from a mission trip to the Philippines. I shared our adventures traveling there in Adventure Philippines – Getting There. I also shared what we did there and our experience on the mission trip in a previous post. Here’s a bit more of our adventure aside from mission work. We went as a family with our two teens and it was a perfect addition to the high school geography and cultures we’ve been learning. We learned about U.S. geography last year and then traveled across the U.S. from California to D.C. and even New York on an Epic adventure in our RV. What better finale to this year’s world geography and cultures, not only to be part of a mission and share the gospel, but to travel to another country and experience another culture!
Where we stayed on the Island of Negros
After a very, very long day of travel we arrived at our base camp where we stayed for the length of our mission trip. We had all pictured staying in cabin type rooms in bunks, but our rooms were like hotel rooms. Our family got to stay together in one room. We even had our own bathroom! The place was beautiful. The team had rented rooms at the Sea Forest Resort in Sibulan. I guess we chose the right mission trip to join!
There were pools and waterslides! It was hot so the kids were immediately swimming. We were right next the beach and our room had an ocean view. We had comfy beds and air conditioning. The property was beautiful, lots of native plants and trees and even birds in large cages. The native Philippine Eagles were pretty cool to see and there was a toucan, love birds, cockatoos and a few others.

We were at base for all our meals and every afternoon we had some downtime between going out for mission work. It was a great place to stay! We got to see more of the island when we traveled to and from missions work and our last day we got to go play. I’ll tell you all about it in my next post.
